We, the Parish of St. Luke, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, are committed to continue building the Kingdom of God by being a Community of Disciples, living God’s Word, reaching out to all people. We do this through the following groups.

Tel: 9801-5534Baptisms are celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Please contact the Parish Office to begin the preparation for Baptism. A home visit to the family will be arranged where the meaning of baptism is discussed and the symbols used in baptism are explained.
The family then attends the Welcoming Mass which is an introduction to our church community. The child is anointed with the oil of the Catechumen as a sign of strengthening for the journey. The family is presented with a candle and stole to be used at the baptism. The family is now formally prepared for their baptism ceremony.

Around mid 2004 the Social Justice group of the Parish (led by Lyn Bolton) wanted to do something that showed they cared about the environment. They decided to change the neglected piece of land at the back of the church into a sanctuary for native flora and fauna with Fr. Tim's approval. Gary Di Paola, the Parish maintenance person and Angelique Issell from the school were involved. In November 2004 yellow box trees were planted and the dream was started. Capeweed and ivy were cleaned up, metal scraps taken away for recycling and rocks and stones gathered for beautification further down the track.
In early May 2005, thanks to the Knox Council, 2 large water tanks were installed and the Franciscans helped with extra money for future watering systems.
In June a Dingo was brought in to create the water flow channel and the frog bog. This was followed by the planting of 400 shrubs and grasses, most of which had been donated by the Knox Environmental Society People at a working bee to build a new fence for the presbytery. Some tools were also bought with a Federal Government Grant.
In November 2005 more plants were planted in honor of Barry Goodear and the garden was extended in May 2006. In the same year St. Luke's school community, led by Karen Nichol, set up the vegie patch.
In 2005 the garden won 1st prize in the Knox Community Garden Awards.
Every Monday a very small group of volunteers, led by Lyn Bolton, worked to maintain the area. Since then, Marita Egan has built up the vegie patch and last year was joined by Angelique Issell.
A group of school children maintain the area and grow vegetables. It is a very important part of school life and contributes greatly to developing a love of nature and the environment in many of our children.
